Why are blondes 'stupid'?

I heard that the stereotype came from a long time ago.

Because blondes were the new trend and most celebrities had blonde hair. Since they were all actrors/actresses they didn't focus on school since they already had jobs and they weren't very smart.

Then they created the mold for all blondes.

From people like Mae West and Marylin Monroe (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes), who usually played dumb blond parts, and more recently Goldie Hawn and of course, Paris Hilton who just plays herself.

Interestingly there is an article in the Daily Mail (Monday) that reports on tests carried out at Paris Nanterre University, where men were shown pictures of women with a variety of hair colors, then made to take a general knowledge test.

Those who had seen blonds scored lower than the other colors, proving they say that people confronted by stereotypes, generally behave in line with them. Interesting, if nothing else ....
